This course offers senior crew members  refresher training on essential competencies that may diminish after obtaining a maritime statutory qualification.

Developed with the backing of Penwarden Holdings Ltd, Maritime NZ, and Guard Safety, the course covers crucial topics for safety at sea, incorporating lessons learned from numerous fishing vessel incidents.

The course comprises of a sequence of modules focusing on vital safety aspects, complete with assessments to evaluate your understanding.
Upon finishing the online modules, some participants will have the opportunity to complete a task book aboard a vessel, allowing for the evaluation of their practical skills.

Course Objectives

On successful completion, students will be able to

  • Review and test their knowledge of the rules of the road covering eight collision regulations (COLREGs)
  • Understand the requirements of emergency equipment, drills & helicopter rescue
  • Understand and apply the basic principles of stability onboard a fishing vessel
