Staying ‘Ship Shape’-Wellbeing Training

Working at sea may be a calling but we all know making a livelihood this way isn’t always easy. FirstMate New Zealand is an initiative set up for our seafood whānau, with seafood whānau, to provide all of us who work at sea with one-on-one support when we need it the most.

MarineSAFE, working with FirstMate, have developed this module to help you stay 'ship shape'.

Those who work at sea experience mental health conditions at higher levels than those who work on land.   Many people experience some form of mental health condition during their life and it could be you, your work colleagues, your friends or whānau.  This course will help you to understand why it occurs, identify the symptoms and how you can improve your mental health and/or support others. Staying ‘Ship Shape’ is important to your overall wellbeing.
