LEARNING OBJECTIVES

On successful completion, students will be able to

  1. Understand the likelihood of manual handling injuries in the fishing industry and the main types of harm
  2. Identify factors that contribute to musculoskeletal injury risks for fishers
  3. Apply a simple manual handling risk assessment method and identify ways to reduce injury risks
  4. Identify safe work methods that will reduce the likelihood of suffering discomfort and pain from manual tasks
